The film is the first not to come with longtime franchise star Paul Walker, who perished in a tragic car wreck while in the shooting of Furious 7. The action moves to New York City in this installment, with the trailer promoting Theron’s villainous role Cipher causing huge mayhem in the roads of Manhattan.

In the new movie, Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto turns out bad guy and companions with a clever criminal known as Cipher (Charlize Theron), who creates chaos around the world by digitally controlling every car on the road. To save Dom and quit Cipher, the crew embarks on yet another bizarre assignment that needs them to combine with former opponent, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham).

Fate of the Furious is merely over a month away from opening, and Universal just released one more trailer. Such as earlier trailers and TV spots, part of the focus in the new trailer is on the family’s reply to Dom’s relationship with Cipher and their try to reunite with him.

From the seashore of Cuba and the avenues of New York City to the frozen plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the planet to prevent an anarchist from removing the lock on disarray on the world’s stage and to adopt home the guy who made them a family.

For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is accompanied by a returning all-star cast together with Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. Along with Theron, the series embraces newcomers Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray and produced by heading back producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.

On the heels of 2015’s Furious 7, one of the most effective movies to achieve $1 billion globally in box-office record and the sixth-greatest worldwide title ever, appears the most recent sequence in one of the most in-demand and enduring motion-picture serials of all time: The Fate of the Furious online.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game-and the rest of the crew has been exonerated-the globetrotting crew has found a type of a normal lifestyle. But when a mysterious girl (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the field of crime he can’t manage to escape and a betrayal of those nearest to him, they will face trials that will test them as nothing you've seen prior.

The Fate of the Furious trailer also teases stacks of mind-boggling, physics-defying and property-destroying stunts. Among the features are troves of cars pouring out of New York City parking garages, Ludacris operating a tank across a iced tundra and Dwayne Johnson directing the trajectory of a torpedo while dangling out of a moving snowmobile.

Unless Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. drops some goodies to tie in with Collateral Beauty, this may be the “season finale” of this year’s pre-Star Wars trailer spree (update: we're probably getting a Dunkirk trailer from Warner along with that IMAX prologue preview). And after a 2.5-minute “series retrospective” video and a trailer teaser (“tweaser”) late last week, we have an actual theatrical trailer for the eighth film in the Fast/Furious franchise. As you know, the film will be titled Fate of the Furious. As in “F8 of the Furious.”

As you'll see in the trailer, the "hook" is that Dom has gone rogue for reasons unknown and that his old crew is now tasked with bringing him down, with some unlikely help in the form of... well, watch the trailer. What's interesting is that this is the third trailer of the "season" to tell its protagonist in an unlikely position. The Transformers trailer ended with Optimus Prime apparently trying to kill Bumblebee while the first The Mummy trailer positioned Tom Cruise as apparently undead and possibly the "mummy" of the title. It's a good strategy, as it avoids "same old, same old," especially with franchises that have been around the block. Speaking of which...
